Minutes from October 12, 2026
The St. Boniface Altar Society meeting was held on Monday, August 12, 2026, with 16 members present. The meeting opened with prayer. Money for Penny and a Prayer was collected. President Getzfred announced that $16,000.00, which was raised through this activity, was presented to Archbishop McGovern at the OACCW Annual Convention in September. These monies are used to support vocations.
Minutes from the last meeting were read. Lynelle Morgan made a motion to approve the minutes, and Connie Dvorak seconded the motion. Motion passed.
Sam Stoltz gave the treasurer’s report.

Michele Reicks made a motion to accept the treasurer’s report; Linda Mitchell seconded the motion. Motion passed. Anna Meis reported that rectory donations amount to $9,625.00. The cost for making the Rectory ready for guests was $13,000.00 making the project close to breaking even. At this time, Anna requested an additional $300.00 to make further improvements in the décor at the Rectory. Julie Borer made a motion to grant this request; Jan Starman seconded the motion. The motion passed.

Old Business:
1. President Getzfred thanked the members of Circles 5 and 6 for cleaning the convent. Betty also thanked Michele Reicks for helping Chelsea Preister collect the unused art supplies from the convent to aid in her work with youth ministry.
2. Plans were made to serve 175 meals for the Alan Kluthe funeral; 160 were served. The family of Jim Meis, Sr. planned for 100 and 79 were served. For the Ken Bode funeral, Circle One solicited salads and desserts only. The family planned for 200; 177 were served. Currently, if the Altar Society supplies all the food, the cost per plate is $4.00. If the family provides the meat, buns, etc. the cost per plate is $2.00.
3. President Getzfred helped solicit donations for the Box of Joy service project which collects items to make up gift boxes which are sent to children in developing countries around the world who may have never received a Christmas gift before. Each box is filled with toys, clothing, school supplies, a rosary, and The Story of Jesus.
4. President Getzfred reported on the upcoming Thanksgiving Bazaar. A packet has been distributed to St. Boniface parishioners including information regarding a cash donation, tickets for the Thanksgiving drawing, and quilt raffle tickets. President Getzfred will send specifics regarding solicitation of food donations to the Circle Leaders. The work list is nearly completed. Matt Beckman will take over sausage sales, and Bonnie Hoefer will be in charge of pre-orders for sausage. This will be the final year sausage is purchased from Wausa Lockers.
5. Members in attendance were asked to review the proposed changes to the St. Boniface Altar Society/Christian Mothers bylaws, add their ideas, and bring suggestions to the next meeting.

New Business:
1. It was reported that the Altar Society has contributed $4500.00 to help cover insurance costs for St. Boniface Parish. Also, the Sprinkler System goal of collecting $40,000.00 has been met.
2. Chantelle Dempster, Evangelization, Religious Ed, and Sacrament Director for the Catholic Parishes in Partnership, requested the Altar Society pay for Bibles for the Confirmation candidates. There are 12 candidates this year and the next class should number 22. Bibles are $9.00 each. Lynell Morgan made a motion to purchase 34 Bibles, and Linda Mitchell seconded it. Motion passed.
3. Circle One’s Charity was to provide cookies for the St. Boniface Women’s ACTS Retreat held October 10, 2026, at St. Boniface Church.
4. October is Pastor Appreciation Month. President Getzfred will put a Spiritual Bouquet flyer in the bulletin.
5. President Getzfred received a copy of the Wedding Policies for St. Boniface Catholic from Chantelle Dempster. Copies were made available for Altar Society members.
6. President Getzfred asked members if they would be interested in retreats, prayer groups, and/or Bible study – especially with the Advent season approaching – noting that the Retreat on October 10th was well-attended and well-received.
7. A motion to adjourn the meeting was made by Lynell Morgan and seconded by Anna Meis. Motion carried. The meeting closed with a prayer.
